Pulmonary Rehabilitation
Helping patients breathe better one breath at a time. . .
We use a very hands on approach to restore patients to the highest possible level of independent functioning. During this program we will work side by side with patients to accomplish the following:
- Increase exercise tolerance in order to reduce impairment
- Reduce frequency and severity of symptoms
- Improve mood and motivation
- Reduce dependency
- Enhance participation in everyday activities
- Improve quality of life
Who is the program for?
Patients who have chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or other respiratory conditions without acute illness.
Patients who want a better quality of life and more independence.
What is the program like?
A course of Pulmonary Rehab will last between eight and ten weeks. During this time each patient will have three sessions per week, and each session will be about one hour long. During the course of each session, patients will rotate through a circuit of endurance, strength, and breathing exercise.
There will be a treadmill, exercise bike, scifit machine, and free weights, as well as incentive spirometry and IMT's for lung strengthening.
All rehabilitation services are offered by a staff of licensed Respiratory Therapists, who keep up to date with the latest news and trends in pulmonary care.
We will work closely with our patients, their families and their physicians to ensure that they are receiving the absolute gold standard in care.
