PARIS, KY. (May 18, 2023) – Bourbon Community Hospital (BCH), part of Lifepoint Health’s Central Kentucky market, is happy to announce that lead behavioral health tech Samuel Tatum has been named the 2023 Mercy Award winner. Tatum was selected for passion for patient care and patient satisfaction.
Samuel received the award for continuously going above and beyond for patent safety by identifying potential areas of harm and areas of improvement. He often receives patient compliments. One adolescent patient wrote, “Thanks for listening and not judging me.” Another wrote, “You make me feel at ease and safe while in the hospital.” He truly makes a difference in the lives of others.
“At Bourbon Community Hospital, we are grateful to have Samuel on our team,” said Tommy Haggard, CEO of BCH. “The Mercy Award is a great honor that represents not only the great work at our hospital, but making a positive impact in our community and Samuel excels at both.”
Tatum’s caring nature extends beyond the hospital’s walls. In his free time, he volunteers by feeding those in need and donating to coat drives. Through Samuel’s work and personal connections, he’s also an advocate for the disability community.
The Lifepoint Mercy Award program memorializes the legacy of the late Scott Mercy, Lifepoint’s founding chairman and CEO. Each hospital annually selects one local Mercy Award winner who consistently strives to embrace Scott’s caring philosophies and reach the high standards he set for Lifepoint. The Mercy Award is the highest honor a Lifepoint Health employee can receive.
